EGGS

We, admittedly, take our eggs seriously. Hens are pretty special creatures; give them the right conditions and the right food and they provide us with a delicious source of protein, fats, vitamins, and minerals.

Our laying hens live in a mobile chicken coop we’ve named “The Egg’n Wagon.” The Egg’n Wagon slowly makes its way across our hayfields with the hens in tow. We keep them in an electrifiable net to ensure safety from predators (lots of coyotes, fox, and birds of prey love to make a tasty meal out of an unsuspecting hen) but for all intensive purposes, they live like a free range chicken.

We feed our hens non-GMO, transitional organic feed from a local mill. We do not feed our hens corn and we do not feed soy. When hens are allowed to eat their natural omnivorous diet, they in turn give eggs that have a firm white and a rich, golden yolk.
