Chocolate Syrup

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

  • pinch of salt

Directions

  1. Whisk cocoa powder, sugar, and water together in a saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Remove from heat once the mixture begins to simmer

  3. Add in vanilla and salt

  4. Pour into a container/jar and cool in the refrigerator

  5. ENJOY!

The best part about this recipe is it is SO customizable to your tastes. Like a darker chocolate? Add more cocoa powder. Want to substitute the sugar? Add in honey or maple syrup. Want less sugar? Only add in 1/2 cup. Going for a mint hot chocolate? Throw in some mint extract. I prefer to add in a little cinnamon.

The second best part is that it is SO versatile. It mixes it perfectly into warm milk for hot chocolate and cold milk for decadent chocolate milk. It also happens to make a mean mocha… do with that what you will. And as an ice cream topping? You can’t beat it!
